Mike Ditka, who as head coach led the Chicago Bears to a Super Bowl victory in 1986, has found a buyer for his Naples, Florida, home within a month of putting it on the market.
The house was listed in early December for $1.375 million. Listing agent Celeste Cunningham of John R. Wood Properties said they found a buyer in less than two weeks. Listing records show the home as pending with contingencies as of Jan. 2.
Cunningham said this was a quick sale for Naples, where homes often average one to three months on the market.

“Not only was the Ditkas’ home priced competitively, offering a great value for a Naples home with outstanding features, but the fact that an American Legend resided in it helped as well with a quick sale,” she said.
Ditka, 85, and his wife, Diana, built the home in 2002 after buying the property that same year for $70,000, records show. In November, Ditka told the Chicago Sun-Times that he and Diana had moved back to Chicago. He couldn’t be reached for comment.
Since the deal hasn’t closed yet, the final sale price and information on the buyers weren’t readily available, however Cunningham said the Ditkas received “numerous offers” and the buyers are from out of state.
Sporting a green exterior and a tile roof, the single-story home spans approximately 3,400 square feet. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus a den, and the primary suite features a bathroom with a steam shower, dual vanities and two separate lavatories.
Sliding glass doors in the living room lead out to the screened lanai, where there’s an outdoor kitchen, plenty of patio space, a swimming pool and a hot tub. Tall landscaping provides privacy.
The home also has a three-car garage.
In addition to spending 11 seasons as the Bears head coach, Ditka also was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints for three seasons before retiring in 1999. Prior to his coaching career, he played in the NFL for 12 seasons, earning the title of Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1961, also with the Bears.
